Projekt IRENE

Project IRENE was selected for co-financing under the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia - Bosnia and Herzegovina - Montenegro, Priority axis 2.: 'Protecting the environment and nature, improving risk prevention and promoting sustainable energy and energy efficiency' with specific objective 'To promote utilization of renewable energy resources and energy efficiency'.

Project implementation started on July 1st, 2017 and lasts until December 31st, 2019.
Total value of the project amounts 1,915,820.00 EUR out of which 1,628,447.00 EUR is co-financed by the European Union.

The Lead partner of the project is Zadar County Development Agency ZADRA NOVA , and project partners are Zadar County from Croatia, Eco Centre DOLPHIN and Municipality of Tivat from Montenegro and Association for Economic Development REDAH and City of Mostar from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The main objective of the project ls to protect and preserve environment and encourage sustainable use of natural resources in border regions through joint development and networking of local energy management systems in CBA for fostering energy efficiency and renewable energy system utilization in public sector. Project IRENE with its scope directly contributes to the overall objective of the Programme 'To strengthen the social, eco nomic and territorial development of the Programme area' through implementation of joint interventions in the area of environment protection and sustainable energy.

The main project results are:

Replacement of existing lighting systems with energy efficient lighting in the areas of cities of Zadar and Mostar and 11 locations in the cross-border area (Smilčić, Korlat, Lisičić, Bibinje, Vinjerac, Gajine, Galovac, Privlaka, Neum, Jablanica and Tivat).
lntroducing new solar system on sports hall 'Župa' in Tivat.
Establishment of EE team in Municipality of Tivat.
Organization and implementation of specialized workshops that are going to build capacities of for Energy Efficiency teams
Capacity building by introduction of new specialized equipment for Energy Efficiency teams
Promo campaign of the project that, among other things, includes production and performance of theatre play for children with a topic of conservation and environmental protection through simple steps of energy efficiency that is going to be performed in in all three partner countries
